Sally and Sam - True Love

I cried in my office today.
While sitting alone, I cried. It wasn't a miserable cry, but it was the kind where something effected me so deeply that I was unaware of surroundings. I was watching a love story. It was powerful and it reached me. The words "He lights a fire in my heart" resonated and I retold the story three times throughout the day.
If you have 30 minutes to sit alone and be equally moved then please check out the love story of Sally and Sam either here or on iview.

Can't sleep

10.53.
Can't sleep.
Not so bad as it's only 10.53
But I know that when I eventually fall asleep I'll wake early. About 4am and then I'll toss and turn for the last 2 and a half hours. Half asleep, half planning Act 2 of Seussical or plotting my year 12 Drama course for next semester.
I want to switch off!!

I want to find away to just stop, and rest!!

Today the words that had power for me were spoken by my 3 year old son.
Mummy, I want to marry you because you are the most beautiful girl in the world.

Followed by my husband.
"That's why I married her and that's why you are here!!

LOVE

Today it was the words of Martin Luther King Jr that inspired me, stuck on a post note on my friends computer, his words captured my attention.
She had found them in a newspaper, published in the context of Osama Bin Ladens murder.
Though the words in their original context were for something much different I still found them powerful.
Here is the main message.

I am trying to spread love this week, to all those who disagree with me... I know it's a log way from hate, but I have realised I can not change others, only myself.

Sunday Morning Creativity

From no place at all today grew a new little series of prints titles mantra. They are 8 x 10 and come framed for $30 and they feature some of the words I "TRY" To love by. I highlight try as I am not perfect. Sometimes moments overwhelm me and I sook, I complain, I cry... but then I TRY to remember these words.

I'm off to be inspired by my cast in the musical I'm directing. Hope your Sunday is also inspiring!!!

What a smart man Dr. Seuss was

I love Dr. Seuss books!! In fact, I love all things Seuss and presently I am directing the school production of SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL!!! It's a wonderful story of unconditional love, loyalty and belief in oneself. These are all things I hope to pass onto my children.
I often look to the words of Dr. Seuss at important moments. I have used his words to inspire a cast at the end of a production, to send graduating home room students off into the world.
I have a Dr Seuss Range of Prints and will be working on one very special on in the very near school holidays.

Friday Evening

It's Friday 5.30 pm. Right in the middle of my favourite time of the week. I love Friday afternoon/evenings as the greatness of the weekend awaits me. I love when something great is ahead of me, so much possibility!
Today the words of Dianna Agron inspired me. She plays Quinn on one of my favourite TV shows GLEE. Her words today were on the importance of acceptance for all...
here is just some of what she said...

"I was not raised in a family that accepted prejudice or hatred. For that, I thank my Mom and Dad each and every day. Look, we are human, we make mistakes. I will gladly shout from the rooftops that I AM NOT PERFECT. Nor will I ever be. But I can happily say that to my knowledge, I do not ever intentionally cause people pain. I love my family, my friends, my co-workers…and they all consist of girls AND boys. I do tell them that I love them. Yesterday, during our second show, Instead of wearing my usual shirt during “Born This Way” I decided to wear one that said “Likes Girls”. It should actually have read, “Loves Girls”, because I do. The women in my life give me things that the men in my life can’t. And vice-versa. No, I am not a lesbian, yet if I were, I hope that the people in my life could embrace it whole-heartedly. And let me tell you, I can easily spill (quite comfortably) what I admire, respect and think is beautiful about any of the women in my life. Piece of cake!"

Love Your Work

In 2010 I directed my first musical. At the end of every rehearsal I wanted a sign off. Some positive words to leave on. Three little words came to mean so much. LOVE YOUR WORK!! They became the words I was know for. I hope the impact of them still lives on now, a year on from that wonderful joyous time in my life. What words are you know for?

inconvenience

Things are hectic. No denying that. Three children, end of term, reports, directing the school musical, just started gym. But I must always put the three little humans I created (with my husband) first.

Just browsing online and these words reminded me of just that.... If you're a busy Mum too I hope they remind you to stop for an extra kiss and hug this evening.

End of Term stress for Teachers

End of Term is always hard. End of Semester is even worse. Reports. Exams. Content to time restraints! Ewww!! It is stressful. So some words (via pinterest) to encourage in that darkness that is end of term madness...

Welcome to my blog

Welcome!
Hello, greetings, hey, whats up?, howdy, g'day, Bonjour, whats crack-a-lackin?, hola, what d'ya know?
However you say it I appreciate you being here. I guess that's the thing I am saying with this blog. Words have power!
Even the way you say hello can determine the nature of a whole conversation. I play a game with my drama students where they have to greet people as old friends, as someone they don't like, as mortal enemies, as family etc etc. They know that each different scenario requires different words and emotions.
The purpose of this blog will be to share words that have impacted me. Recently I have started my own business creating Typography Prints featuring powerful words and mantras. It began with a Family Rules Print. The words spoke to me. They created the image of the family I wanted my children and my husband and I to aspire to. We're not perfect but I think we should always strive to be.
The range has continued from there. All feature some sort of quote or words. Some are quotes that have touched me, others are created by me, all are words that have power.

So I will post quotes etc that grab my attention or stop me for just a moment, impacting me for that second. Hopefully they will resonate with you too.
